THE LEGEND OF OCEANOS
According to mythological legend, OCEANOS was
one of the Titans who helped create the cosmos out of
chaos. The creators had fashioned a flat land mass
which OCEANOS surrounded with a great body of
water named after himself. The waters seeped through
the earth and emerged to form all the seas, rivers,
lakes and streams. He married his sister Tethys, who gave birth to the
3000 rivers of the world and to 3000 daughters whose
job was to care for all the waterways of the world.
